“Eyes on the Prize” Mentoring Program Eyes on the Prize is a coaching and mentoring program that gives adolescent boys and young men a direct experience of achievement and empowerment. How? By channeling his energy, creativity and enthusiasm into creating something that he really wants – the “prize”. His prize can take many forms, as long as it’s demanding and meaningful for him. Earning a karate black belt. Winning a full scholarship to an Ivy League university. Spending a year abroad volunteering or learning a language. Learning to sail. Designing and selling a video game. Publishing a story. Eyes on the Prize provides a young man with a challenging opportunity: to engage and navigate life in order to achieve something he values. It calls forth his inner strengths, commitment and talents; increases his confidence and self-esteem; and helps him to master crucial life skills. Coaching and mentoring sessions take place by phone and in person, with email contact provided in between for additional support and accountability.
