About Michael Condren
I completed my coach training at the Coaches Training Institute (CTI), the leading coach training organization in the country, and am certified by the International Coach Federation. I’m also trained in systems and relationship coaching, and a graduate of the Coactive Leadership Program. I’ve coached and led workshops for young people, college students and adults; and facilitated emotional support groups for people affected by HIV/AIDS.
Before becoming a coach, I had successful careers as both an employee of Fortune 500 companies and an entrepreneur in the US and Europe: writer, editor and translator; advertising and marketing; and internet strategy and development. My work and life experience have honed my skills in communications, strategic analysis, project development and management, and taught me how to turn ideas into realities.
I muddled through a very rocky and difficult youth of my own – challenged by serious school, family and personal issues – with the help of mentors and guides, and by discovering my own resources. I’ve lived through the failures (and successes) of important relationships, business ventures, and personal dreams; overcome obstacles and challenges; learned from them; and moved on. Being a risk taker, I’ve learned to appreciate the beauty and strength of a well-constructed parachute, and how to make a good one.
Having lived in foreign countries since the age of 14, I am exquisitely aware of what it’s like to be a young man who feels alone, excluded and very different. An explorer and navigator, I’ve traversed the globe solo and traveled extensively through India, Asia, South America and Europe. I’ve learned to survive and thrive in alien and confusing cultures, and to see and appreciate life from a multitude of perspectives.
I bring to my coaching a deep well of compassion, understanding and acceptance; a tested ability to stand in and work through the tough and scary places; knowledge of the worlds of business and creative expression; and a deep commitment to offering adolescent boys and young men the support and guidance they need to become the visionary upstarts in their lives.
